What is YUNGA?

YUNGA is a local digital rescue network that connects neighbors and law enforcement in real time during emergencies or attacks, ensuring swift responses. With just the press of a button on the YUNGA device, your neighbors and police are immediately alerted, reducing response times from over 12 hours to under 5 minutes.

Our Journey

Since our inception in November 2019, YUNGA has been transforming community security. Starting in the Ntinda-Kigowa community in Kampala, Uganda, we now serve over 3,000 households and benefit more than 10,000 individuals across 56 communities in the central region of Kampala and beyond.

• Crime Prevention Impact: Our affordable security tools have prevented 500 crimes, achieving a 30% reduction in crime rates in the areas we serve.
• Women Empowerment: 60% of our beneficiaries are female-led households.
• Awareness Campaigns: Our law enforcement education initiatives have reached over 1 million people through physical community engagements and social media.

YUNGA organizes communities into local networks. Each household installs a portable YUNGA device, which allows users to notify neighbors and the police with the press of a button during an emergency.
